Technologist - Foods & Flavours


We are seeking a Technologist with a commitment to the future, a co-operative approach and a passion for working alongside everyday good people in our pilot plant and across our site to join our R&D team.

 

This is a diverse role undertaking R&D with commercial intent, primarily focussed on new product development for Tatua’s Foods & Flavours business unit; including whipping creams, fermented cream products, aerosol creams, and enzyme modified flavours.

 

Project work includes the design and development of new products/processes from initial concepts right through to commercialisation. This involves planning and execution of lab and pilot scale trials, hands-on operation and troubleshooting of pilot plant equipment, and collaborating with our commercial, operational and quality teams to plan and lead commercial trials.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Design, plan, and execute pilot experiments and product trials using dairy processing techniques including heat treatment, enzymatic processes, fermentation, and drying
  • Co-ordinate and influence cross-functional teams in the planning, preparation, and review of commercial trials
  • Inspire trust that sound technical understanding, and hypotheses underpin experimental plans and process design
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • R&D experience in dairy or food technology /processing
  • A relevant food technology, science or chemical/process engineering degree
  • Strong analytical/technical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to taste and discriminate sensory properties of products is preferred
  • Interpersonal skills to collaborate well, build effective relationships and to lead project discussions and trial planning
  • A fantastic attitude, coupled with curiosity and initiative.
