Technical Officer- Nutritionals


We are seeking a Technical officer with hands-on aptitude and a can-do attitude and to work in our Research and Development team.

This is a diverse role supporting our Nutritionals business in the planning and execution of pilot and laboratory scale trials. These trials encompass projects across new product development, existing product improvement and product/application assessments.

 

In this role you will:

  • Co-operate and co-ordinate with Technologists, Production, Engineers, and Quality staff to provide appropriate support for R&D projects
  • Assist in the design and planning of experiments, then execute these plans in the Product Development Laboratory and pilot plant
  • Operate pilot scale dairy processing equipment, including heat treatment, filtration and separation, evaporation and drying
  • Complete equipment CIPs (clean in place) and coordinate equipment repair for preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Communicate opportunities for equipment improvement and address H&S issues to ensure a safe environment
  • Train new staff on the operation of key equipment
  • Participate in regular housekeeping checks, ensuring general tidiness is up to speed in the lab/pilot plant area.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Be comfortable with hands-on experimental work and have a mechanical aptitude for pilot scale equipment
  • Inspire trust that experimental plans are followed through with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Utilise good written and verbal communication skills to communicate plans and findings with the wider team.

 

Previous experience in a food manufacturing of laboratory environment is preferred but not required.
