Irrigation Operator


We are seeking an Irrigation Operator to join our dedicated Irrigation team and support the day‑to‑day operation of Tatua’s wastewater treatment and irrigation systems.

 

As a part of the Environmental Team, you will be responsible for the effective and compliant operation of Tatua’s primary, secondary, and irrigation wastewater systems.

 

In this role, you will be:

  • Operating spray irrigation systems, including pod irrigation and centre pivot systems
  • Setting up and monitoring irrigation & wastewater treatment equipment
  • Ensuring operations comply with resource consent conditions
  • Maintaining irrigation and environmental records, logs, and reports
  • Conducting equipment cleaning, preventative maintenance, and general repairs
  • Monitoring environmental impacts and escalating potential consent issues
  • Working closely with farm owners, operators, and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting irrigation farm operations including maintenance tasks and occasional stock movements.

 

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Can take responsibility and work independently
  • Performs well under pressure and adapts to changing priorities
  • Has strong planning, problem‑solving, mechanical, and communication skills
  • Enjoys hands‑on outdoor work and is physically fit
  • Has a good understanding of the agricultural sector, particularly dairying
  • Has experience using and maintaining agricultural equipment
  • Is comfortable communicating with stakeholders, including in stressful situations
  • Is computer literate and accurate with record‑keeping

 

This is a seven‑day operational environment, so you’ll work a variable day‑shift roster (9‑hour shifts), including weekends.
